Hillwalking Kit List
Below is a recommended kit list for hillwalking. We recommend wearing a layering system. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the kit lists then please get in touch.
To wear-

Base Layer (e.g Sports top)

General trekking trousers (not jeans or cotton material)

Midlayer (e.g Fleece)

Boots* -Well fitting waterproof boots are recommended (with ankle support and soles which will grip on rock, grass and mud). We would recommend breaking these in prior to coming on a trip
To carry

Rucksack – 25+ litres*

Waterproof jacket (with hood)*

Waterproof over trousers*

Spare warm layer- this should be stored in a dry bag inside your rucksack*

Warm hat

Gloves or mitts*

Buff/Neck Gaiter

Torch (preferably a head torch)*

Drink*- We recommend carrying a minimum of 1 litre of water for a day on the hills, more if it's warm conditions or the day is expected to be a longer day.

Personal first aid kit- containing plasters (blister plasters can also be useful) along with any personal medication you require.

Mobile phone

A bag to carry home any rubbish

Walking poles- can be useful to aid in ascent and descent.

Midge repellent/midge net
When packing your bag it is wise to either line your backpack with a waterproof liner (dry bag) or pack items in their own dry bags to protect items from the elements.
