Expedition Kit List

Below is a recommended kit list for Expedition's and wild camping experiences. Braw Mountain Company can provide all Camping Equipment. Please let us know what you Require. We recommend wearing a layering system. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the kit lists then please get in touch.

To wear-

  • Base Layers

  • General trekking trousers (not jeans or cotton material)

  • Midlayer

  • Boots* -Well fitting waterproof boots are recommended (with ankle support and soles which will grip on rock, grass and mud). We would recommend breaking these in prior to coming on a trip

To carry 

  • Waterproof jacket (with hood)*

  • Waterproof over trousers*

  • Spare warm layer- this should be stored in a dry bag inside your rucksack*

  • Warm hat 

  • Gloves or mitts*

  • Buff/Neck Gaiter

  • Headtorch- with Spare batteries or spare headtorch *

  • Sun cream

  • Sun glasses

  • Cap/Sun hat

  • Food*-(Braw mountain Company will supply you with an evening meal and breakfast, This will be discussed with you Ahead of schedule. However you may still wish to bring additional food, snacks, tea/coffee etc.)

  • Drink*- We recommend carrying a minimum of 1 litre of water for a day on the hills, more if it's warm conditions or the day is expected to be a longer day. 

  • Personal first aid kit- containing plasters (blister plasters can also be useful) along with any personal medication you require.

  • Mobile phone

  • A bag to carry home any rubbish*

  • Walking poles- can be useful to aid in ascent and descent. 

  • Whistle/Watch

  • Midge repellent/midge net* 

  • Plastic Bowl/Mug/Spork

  • Spare Dry layers- These are key to keeping you warm at night and can provide a  boost to morale and comfort as well as preventing Hypothermia. We would  recommend at least a change of dry base layers and a dry fleece layer.

  • Spare Socks- Caring for your feet is essential and a key element to this is dry socks.

The following items can be supplied by Braw, Please let us know if you require any items. 

  • Rucksack – 50+ litres* 

  • 3 season Sleeping Bag * 

  • Ground Mat * 

  • Tent * 

  • Stove & Cook Kit*

When packing your bag it is wise to either line your backpack with a waterproof liner (dry bag) or pack items in their own dry bags to protect items from the elements.

​Remember when packing, that all items will need  to be carried therefore it is wise to pack light whilst still carrying the essentials.

All items marked * are mandatory and failure to bring these items could result in you being unable to take part in the event.
